"Hey, do you mind if we postpone our trip?" asked Su. "We can still meet tomorrow?" she continued. "Sure. Any suggestions?" I asked. Su then brought up the write-up I had recently sent on the Linc, KL and suggested exploring the mall.
And that's how we ended up at the Linc, KL. Our initial impression of the mall was that it was quite small. We had planned to have lunch and then move on to somewhere more interesting – or so we thought.
We decided to have our lunch at Bean Brothers. The food was delicious, and the greenery on the outside ground floor added to the charm of our meal. If you're a working nomad, it's also a great spot to get some work done in a quiet, and surprisingly productive, environment on Level 1.
After finishing our lunch, we initially decided to leave the Linc and find another place for coffee. However, our plans changed when we spotted the colourful cupcakes at Bisou.
Coincidentally, I had earlier shared with Su a YouTube video I stumbled upon by chance, showing Anne Hathaway's unique way of eating cupcakes. Those struggling with cupcake consumption, like me, should definitely search for that video. It's a handy tip!
So, we ended up having our coffee and dessert at Bisou instead, and we were glad our plans took an unexpected turn. We enjoyed a lovely time just relaxing, listening to the soothing live music, admiring the majestic old tree before us, and practising our phone photography skills. It was a moment of serenity, reminiscent of the poem by Claire Dubois that adorned the wall near our seating area.
After some leisurely chatting and contemplation, we joined the bandwagon of Instagrammers and explored the mall to further hone our photography skills. It was great fun.
We came across a cozy reading space filled with an impressive collection of books, many unique shops, a rumoured haunted hotel and an art exhibition featuring self-taught artists. Regrettably, I did not jot down the names of the artists to share in my post.
But that was not all. During our walkabout, we also chanced upon a few words of wisdom, which added to an interesting dimension to our experience.
We eventually decided it was time to head back home. However, we couldn't resist finding the elusive owl we had been seeking before that!
As I sat in the MRT heading back, I truly appreciated nature's generosity in providing serenity amidst the bustling city and fast-paced life. It reminded me of the poem "Leisure" by W.H. Davies:
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
All in all, the four hours we spent there were well worth it. Not bad for such a small mall!
You can get to the Linc, KL by public transport by taking the MRT to Ampang Park; exit at Gate A, and head towards the Linc. It's about a 5-10 minute walk, depending on your pace.
Thank you, Su, for an easy-going, yet thought-provoking, day out!
